Goal

-Recognizing the difference between be/get used to vs used to do.
- Using both verb forms in English sentences.

Instructions

Be used to (doing)

It's cold in here, so I'm used to wearing warm clothes.

be used to + (ww+ ing)

Gebruik: aangeven dat we iets gewend zijn.

Ik ben gewend aan het dragen van warme kleding, omdat het zo koud is hier.

Get used to (doing)

It took him a while to get used to eating dinner early.

get used to + (ww+ing)

Gebruik: aangeven dat we aan iets gewend geraakt zijn.

Het duurde even voordat hij gewend raakte aan het vroege avondeten.

zelfstandig nw / gerund

Deze uitdrukkingen met be/get used to + (ww+ing) worden gevolgd door:
- een zelfstandig naamwoord

- gerund (werkwoord + -ing vorm)

I'm not really used to spicy food.

They've got used to living in a small apartment.

In conclusion...

Be used to + (ww+ing) > je bent iets gewend.

get used to + (ww+ing) > je bent aan iets gewend geraakt.

Het verschil zit hem in het eerste werkwoord:
be of get

Used to + infinitive zonder -to

I used to love their music, but now I never listen to it.

Gebruik:
- gewoonten aanduiden die tot het verleden behoren.
- situaties aanduiden die niet meer waar zijn.
