Example 1:

Solve: (by writing down the STEPS that you learnt!)

-5c + 24 -3c = 28

Example 1 - SOLUTION:

Solve: (by writing down the STEPS that you learnt!)

                  -5c + 24 -3c = 28              Take the LIKE TERMS together.

                  -8c + 24 = 28                       Subtract 24 from both sides.

                  -8c = 4                                    Divide by -8

                       c = 4 : -8

                       c = - 0.5

with the BALANCE Method. Step by step!

Solve:

5 t + 15 = 25

SOLUTION Task 1: 

With the BALANCE Method. 

Solve:

5 t + 15 = 25               Subtract 15 on both sides.

5 t = 10                          Divide by 5 on both sides.

t = 2                   

Example 2:

Solve:        4 (f + 3) = 12            Let us write a times sign:

                     4 x (f + 3) = 12         We divide by 4 on both sides.

                             f + 3 = 3             We subtract 3 on both sides.

                             f = 0

Task 2:

Copy and Solve in your Notebook:        7 (t - 9) = 21 

Task 2:

Solve:        7 (t - 9) = 21                 Add a times sign.        

                     7 x (t - 9) = 21              Divide by 7 on both sides.

                            t - 9 = 3                   Add 9 on both sides.

                            t = 12

              

TASK 3

Copy and Solve:

12 v - 24 - 14v = 6

SOLUTION      TASK 3

Copy and Solve:

12 v - 24 - 14v = 6                Take the LIKE TERMS together.

- 2 v - 24 = 6                           Add 24 on both sides.

- 2 v = 30                                  Divide by - 2.

       v = - 15
