• Mountains act like a wall and keep back te warmth from the onshore winds (in winter)


• Mountains act like a climate divider
• Also -> the higher, the colder it is

Onshore winds carry the precipitation far into the interior, but what happens when there are mountains?

• High mountain range -> peeks higher than 1500 m
• Low mountain range -> peeks between 500 and 1500 m
• Hills -> most of the peeks between 200 and 500 meters
• Lowland -> areas with an altitude of less than 200 m
