How do we form the Present Continuous?

The Present Continuous always has 2 verbs:

1. 'to be' in the present simple (am/are/is).
2. a verb ending on -ing.

Present Simple vs Continuous

Present Simple:

I walk to school every day.

Present Continuous:

I am walking to school right now.

Examples

I am walking through the classroom.

Shhhh! Be quiet, John is sleeping.

Look! It is raining outside.

We are dancing to the beat.

I usually sit on a desk during lessons.

I am sitting on a desk right now.

He walks his dog every day.

We are talking about the Present Continuous at the moment.

You always listen to me.

Verbs ending with vowels:

come -> coming

bake -> baking

go -> going

do -> doing

When do we use the Present Continuous?

1. When something happens regularly
2. With habits
3. When something is happening right now

How do we form the Present Continuous?

1. am/are/is + verb + -ing
2. verb + -s
3. am/are/is + verb + -s
