Aan het eind van de les weet je wat gerunds zijn.

Aan het eind van de les weet je hoe de to infinitives werken.

Gerunds

Gerunds zijn werkwoorden die als zelfstandig naamwoorden functioneren.

Deze staan altijd in de -ing vorm en volgen na de werkwoorden zoals love, like, en hate.

Dus:

I love going to festivals. We don't like writing essay. Do you hate travelling by bus?

To infinitives

To infinitives zijn hele werkwoorden. 

Dus to walk betekent lopen. 

Deze vorm gebruik je na woorden zoals want, promise, decide, plan, hope, ask, refuse en expect.

I want to volunteer at the community centre.

They are expecting to get enough money.

We refuse to stop working.
