Present Simple

Use: facts and routines.

Rule: +    I/you/we/they > verb               She/he/it (SHIT) > verb+s 

            -    don't + verb                                  doesn't + verb

            ?    Do ... + verb                                  Does ... + verb

Keywords: always, sometimes, regularly, never, usually, often, normally, occasionally. 

Past Simple

Use: something happened in the past. It has stopped. We know when it happened.

Rule: +    Regular verbs: verb+ed     /    Irregular verbs: own form

            -    didn't + verb                                  

            ?    Did... + verb                         

Keywords: Earlier this morning, yesterday, the day before yesterday, last week/month/year, 1 hour ago, in 2011. 

Past Continuous

Use: something was happening in the past

Rule: a form of verb to be (was/were) + (verb+ing)

            -    wasn't/weren't + (verb+ing)                                  

            ?    Was/Were ... + (verb+ing)              

Keywords: while, when (often used in combination with the past simple)

E.g.: When I was showering, Tom called me. 

Work on Present Simple & Past Simple

Check your Magister mail.
