Grammar 11: The, a, an
The = de of het

The --> specifiek persoon, dier of ding. --> The president | The uniform | The apartment

Je gebruikt 'The' niet  als je het over algemene dingen hebt. 
The books are on the table. --> De boeken liggen op tafel.
Books are expensive. --> Boeken zijn duur.

Wanneer je in een, ziekenhuis, kerk, school, universiteit of gevangenis bent, gebruik je het woordje 'the' niet --> I am at school (zie uitleg op bladzijde 27)

Grammar 11: The, a, an
A/an = een

A / an --> niet specifiek persoon, dier of ding --> A president | A uniform | An apartment

An --> Wanneer het volgende woord begint met de klanken van een klinker! (A, e, i , o, u, au, ai)
              An hour | An apartment | An apple | An egg | An octupus | An FBI-agent

A --> Wanneer het volgende woord begint met een andere klank
             A blueberry | A house | A cup | A one-way road | A book

Grammar 12: Imperative
Imperative = Gebiedende wijs (imperatief)
Ga naar school | Doe je jas dicht | Wees voorzichtig | Open je boek

In het Engels zet je het werkwoord vooraan de zin.
Wees voorzichtig --> Be careful
Sla linksaf --> Turn left

Als iemand iets niet moet doen, zet je do not of don't voor het werkwoord.
Wees niet voorzichtig --> Don't be careful
Sla niet linksaf --> Do not turn left
