- In the first few weeks of the school year, students will choose a novel from the school library. They are encouraged to choose from the C/D collection.
- Sts read the first thirty pages of their book, writing a short (guided) response with a verdict as to whether they would like to stick to this book or rather choose a new one. (Task #1)
- Sts start designing their poster (which they will need for the book market). The poster has to be made digitally (format specified by teacher) and may be used as promotional material for the school library across the school (corridors and classrooms). (Task #2)
- Sts have the book market. They man a stall to which they bring 1) their book, 2) their poster, 3) anything that somehow relates to the book. During this market they attempt to convince their classmates to include their book on their top three. Meanwhile they take notes of classmate’s stalls and speeches.
- After the book market, sts write a top three (assignment sheet is available), explaining their choice for each of the three titles. This document needs to be handed in. (Task #3)
- Based on their top three, sts choose a second book to read.
- Sts write a book report (overview + review + connection) of 300 words (Task #4)
- Sts have a discussion with a classmate and their teacher about their reading of this year (Task #5)
