The present simple

What?

• Tegenwoordige Tijd

Use

• feiten, gewoonten en dingen die we met regelmaat doen (nooit, altijd, soms etc).
• meningen

Form: stam (+ s) / do(es) ... stam? / do(es) not + stam

• Affirmative: I live in Spain / She always cooks at 5 o'clock
• Interrogative: Do they often swim on Thursdays? / Does it bark  at everyone?
• Negative: We do not like spaghetti / He does not study in Spain
  

Signaalwoorden

• Always / never / sometimes / often / regularly, etc
• every day / every month / daily

Ezelsbruggetjes

• SHIT-rule: she / he / it = -s achter stam
• Bij She / He / It gebruiken we 'does' in plaats van 'do'

• Tegenwoordige Tijd (duurvorm)

Use

• Als iets op dit moment / NU plaatsvindt

Form: 2 werkwoorden! Tegenwoordige tijdsvorm van 'to be' + 'werkwoord'-ing

• Affirmative: I am staying in Spain / She is speaking English right now
  
• Interrogative: Are they dancing on the roof now ? / Is it speaking English?
• Negative:  I am not living in Spain / He is not speaking English

Signaalwoorden

• right now
• at this / the moment

Ezelsbruggetjes

• contINGuous
  werkwoord + ing --> dance + ing = dancing
• contiNUous  verwijst naar signaalwoord

Present continuous: Spelling

!!LET OP!!

• De -e valt weg wanneer de stam eindigt met een enkele letter -e 

1. take --> taking
2. make --> making
3. see --> seeing

• Dubbele medeklinkers als de stam eindigt met één klinker en één medeklinker

1. sit ==> sitting
2. get ==> getting

• Een werkwoord die eindigt met ie, verandert naar y

1. lie ==> lying

dubbele medeklinkers

• bij werkwoorden met twee lettergrepen, als de stam eindigt met één klinker en één medeklinker forget ==> forgetting
• als de stam twee lettergrepen heeft en in 'L'  label ==> labelling

Postcards

Opdracht:

STEL JE VOOR!

• Je bent op vakantie en je schrijft een postcard naar een vriend(in).
• Je gebruikt de present simple om je dagelijkse routines te beschrijven en de present continuous om te omschrijven wat er op dat moment aan het gebeuren is. 

• minimaal 5 - maximaal 10 zinnen
