De verleden tijd noemen we in het Engels de Past Simple.

Past simple

Als in het verleden iets gebeurt, gebruik je de past simple 

The past simple eindigt vaak op -ed.

Je gebruikt de Past Simple als je het hebt over  iets dat in het verleden gebeurd is en nu afgelopen is.

Onregelmatige werkwoorden

Onregelmatige werkwoorden hebben geen regelmatige uitgang. Bijvoorbeeld: to go → went. Er zijn veel onregelmatige werkwoorden, dus het is belangrijk om ze te leren.

Leg uit hoe je onregelmatige werkwoorden vervoegt in de past simple.

Bij alle werkwoorden:

Did + onderwerp + hele werkwoord

Je vervoegt dus helemaal niks!!!

Onderwerp + didn't + hele werkwoord

Je vervoegt dus helemaal niks!!!!

Past Simple: Negations

Bij  was/were of would of hulpwerkwoorden zoals could en would voeg je n't(not) toe.

She wasn't in Italy last summer.

Rick and Bo weren't happy to leave France.

I couldn't see the Mona Lisa in Paris.
