Wordt gebruikt als iets in het verleden is gebeurd en nog niet is afgelopen
Wordt gebruikt voor ervaringen, iets wat je altijd al heb willen doen of iets wat je nog nooit hebt gedaan

Uitzondering
het is wel al afgelopen maar je gebruikt toch 
de present perfect

Het is  afgelopen maar het resultaat is belangrijker dan wanneer het is gebeurd.


I have lost my keys.
Je bent niet meer bezig je sleutels te verliezen maar het resultaat (bv. je kunt je huis niet in) is belangrijker dan wanneer het is gebeurd.
