SUBJECT: who is doing the action?

Predicate: the action; the verbs in the sentence.

Jane and Patric have baked a cake yesterday.

The sun was shining brightly.

1. subj: the sun predicate: was shining.

My younger brother serves in the army.

1. subject: My brother. predicate: serves.

Verb agreement

Verb agreement is a fancy word for choosing the right verb  to go with the subject.

Elephants (think, thinks) that
humans are cute.

Relative clauses

quick: what was it again?

"A relative clause is a dependent clause that starts with a relative pronoun."

Who vs whom?

Both refer to a person:

Who is the person that just came in?

To whom did you give that book?

Which one is wrong

The girl, whom hair is black, slipped over the edge. 

When we buy his birthday cake, we have to make sure it is lemon flavoured.
