Past simple: questions
Er zijn drie manieren om in de past simple een vraag te maken.
1. Staat er was/were of een hulpww als could/would in de zin?
Was/ were of het hulpww (could/ would) aan het begin van de zin.
- Was your mum in Italy two week ago?
- Were you happy to go back home?
- Could you take photos of the dolphins?

2. Je zet did aan het begin van de zin. Daarna gebruik je altijd het hele ww

Who/what/which/when/where/how zet je dan aan het begin van de zin. 
- Where was Jenn last week?
- How could they leave without their passports?

Er zijn twee manieren om in de past simple een ontkenning te maken: 
1. Bij was/were of een hulpww als could/ would voeg je -n't (not) aan het woord.
- She wasn't in Italy.
- Rick and Bo weren't happy to leave France.
- I couldn't see the Mona Lisa in Paris.

2. Bij andere ontkenningen in de verleden tijd zet je didn't voor het hoofdwerkwoord.
Na didn't komt altijd het hele werkwoord.
- I didn't bring my sunglasses.
- Lucy didn't like camping.
- We didn't see any dolphins.

  2. Did aan het begin van de zin + hele werkwoord.
  3. WH-woord (e.g. who, what, where, when, which, how) aan het begin van de zin.

Negations in the past simple ...
  1. Bij was/were of hulpwerkwoord in de zin voeg je -n't (not) aan het woord.
  2. Bij alle andere ww gebruik je didn't + hele werkwoord.
