Periode A

Verb & Object

- Gaan het werkwoord en lijdend voorwerp bijna altijd samen:
   
   "everbody enjoyed the party very much"
   (niet: "everybody enjoyed very much the party")

   "our guide spoke English fluently"
   (niet: "our guide spoke fluently English") 

Place & Time

- Plaats komt altijd voor de tijd in Engelse zinnen
- Ezelbruggetje: de P komt eerder dan de T in het alfabet
   "I'm going to Paris on Monday" (niet: "on Monday to Paris")
   "Sarah gave me a lift home after the party"

- De tijd komt alleen vooraan om er extra nadruk op te leggen: 
   "Every morning, Ben walks to work. 

Adverbs & Verbs

- Adverbs (bijwoorden) gaan altijd samen met het werkwoord
- Ze komen voor het werkwoord als dit er 1 is: 
   "We also cooked dinner"      "She rarely reads the newspaper"

- Ze komen na het eerste werkwoord als er meer zijn: 
   "They have always been very kind to me"
- Uitzondering: bij "to be" komen ze er altijd na: 
    "They are never on time"         "He is usually late"
