Countable and uncountable nouns

A countable noun names something we can count using numbers (1, 2, 3…). These nouns usually have a singular and plural form (e.g. an apple / two apples). We can use them with: articles (a / an), questions with “How many…?”, and “some” (in positive sentences) or “any” (in negatives and questions).

An uncountable noun names something we cannot count using numbers (like milk, rice, or water). These nouns: do not have a plural form, do not use “a” or “an”, are used with “How much…?”, and also with “some” (positive) or “any” (negative/question).
