• How to make a negative in the present simple                (ontkenning maken)

Spelling rules for present simple

1. Verbs ending in -ch, -x, -z, - sh, -ss. What is the rule? 

2. Verbs ending in consonant + y (medeklinker + y). What is the rule? (Hurry, study, carry)

3. The irregular verbs 'to go' 'to do' and 'to be'

 Sentence: Sally walks to school

The negative form of:
Sam and Anita sing songs.

1. Sam and Anita sing songs.
2. Sam and Anita don't sing songs.
3. Sam and Anita do not sing songs.

Uitzondering

We don't use "do" if the sentence contains 'has/have got' or a form of 'to be'

Jane has got blue eyes / Has Jane got blue eyes? / Jane hasn't got blue eyes.

She is 12 / Is she 12? / She isn't 12
