USED TO

We use used to to talk about something that happened regularly in the past, but doesn't happen anymore.

 Subject + used to + whole verb

• John and Vicky used to be married.
• I used to have two dogs.
• She used to live in London.
• When I was 6 years old I used to swim twice a week.

'Used to' is used to talk about....

Attention: You only use 'used to' when talking about something which happened regularly in the past.

If something happened only once or twice we use the past simple 

She used to go to the gym every day.

She went to the gym last week.
