Cardinal numbers = hoofdtelwoorden

Ordinal numbers = rangtelwoorden

Ordinal and cardinal numbers

Cardinal number - how many of something (Cardinal is Counting)

one - two - three - four - five - six etc.

Ordinal number - the position of something in a list (Ordinal explains the order)

first - second - third - fourth - fifth - sixth etc.

Short forms: 1st - 2nd - 3rd - 4th - 5th - 6th etc.

Telling the time:
Het is 5 voor 9.

1. It's 5 past 9.
2. It's 55 past 8.
3. It's 5 to 9.

Het is 10 voor half 4.

1. It's 10 to half past 4.
2. It's 20 past 4.
3. It's 20 past three.
4. It's 20 to 4.
