'Liberty, Equality and Fraternity'; that was the slogan of the French Revolution. Most revolutionaries thought of "inequality" as the privileges of nobles and clergy. These revolutionaries mainly wanted to eliminate inequality between the estates, but there were also revolutionaries who pointed to other forms of inequality. Like the inequality between the free and the enslaved, or between men and women.
