1:  was/were of een hulpww als could/would aan het begin van de zin.

1:  Bij was/were of een hulpww als could/ would voeg je -n't (not)to aan het woord.
- She wasn't in Italy.
- Rick and Bo weren't happy to leave France.
- I couldn't see the Mona Lisa in Paris.

2:  Bij andere ontkenningen in de verleden tijd zet je didn't voor het hoofdwerkwoord. Na didn't komt altijd het hele werkwoord.
