What do you need:
- land area (km2)
- population

Slide 9 - Slide

Calculate population density
What is the population density of this country?

Surface 500.000km2

Natural increase
The birth rate is the number of babies born in a year per 1,000 inhabitants. The death rate is the number of deaths in a year per 1,000 inhabitants.

Birth rate - death rate = natural increase.

The birth rate is the number of babies born in a year per 1,000 inhabitants. The death rate is the number of deaths in a year per 1,000 inhabitants.

Birth rate - death rate = natural increase.
Example for the Netherlands:
Birth rate  = 10 o/oo.
Death rate = 8 o/oo.
Natural increase = 10 - 8 = 2 o/oo.

Slide 19 - Slide

Population growth #1
Natural population growth
Number of births
Number of deaths
Natural increase: The difference between births and
deaths, given as a percentage.

Slide 20 - Slide

Social population growth
Growth of the population because there is more immigration than emigration.
