Slide 1 - Slide

How to start...
  • draw a circle
  • draw a line through the middle  of the circle to the bottom of your paper
  • Draw the jaw by adding a teardrop shape under the circle

  • divide the circle into 3 equal parts
  • draw the neck. Tim Burton draws a very long and thin neck. 
  • draw the shoulders, make sure they are broader than the head

...the eyes..
  • draw big circles for the eyes on the bottom line
  • draw pupils, very small, you can play a bit with the position 
  • you can adjust the circle to another form if you want

...the nose...
  • draw the nose at the curved line beneath the eyes
  • you can use a simple form or a bit more complex

...the mouth...
  • draw the mouth a little under the curved line, don't surpass the middle part
  • you can do a simple mouth or a bit more complex

...the eyebrows...
  • draw eyebrows
  • you can make your drawing look surprised by drawing them higher or angry by lowering etc.
  • add eyelashes to the eyes if you want to

draw the hair
  • start at the upper line and end at the ears
  • you can choose what ever hair do you like, be playfull.
  • add lines to the hair t give it movement

 details 
  • add details to the face (scars, cheekbones, etc.)
  • draw clothes
  • leave a little space for a frame around your portrait

shading
  • add shade to your drawing
  • add one colour to give it more depth
  • you can use colors like blue, purple, brown...be creative

frame
  • draw a frame around your picture
  • give your portrait a name
  • don't forget your own name on the back of your picture!
