Some gebruik je in bevestigende zinnen

1. There are some shoes in the hallway. 

2. There were still some slices of cakes in the fridge

A; Maar 'some' gebruik je ook in vraagzinnen waarvan je weet dat het antwoord 'ja' (bevestigend) gaat zijn. 

*je staat in een winkel: 1. Do you have some tomatoes for me? 

(ze liggen letterlijk in de schappen voor je; De winkelier wil winst maken, logisch dat hij antwoord met 'ja');b

B; Maar 'some' gebruik je ook als je een aanbod doet; 

*Do you want some sweets? You look hungry.

*any wordt gebruikt in ontkennende zinnen en vraagzinnen (waarop je niet zeker weet of het antwoord 'ja' gaat zijn)
