Using global reading
You can find the subject of a text, this is usually not that difficult, look at the pictures, headings and titel of the text? What is it about?

The most important things the writer mentions about the subject is usually the main point of a text. You can find the main point of any text by answering these questions: 
- What is the subject of the text?
- What is the main point the writer is trying to make about this subject?
