Words with 2 syllables

Adjective ends in: -y, -le, -er, -ow:

Superlative = -est

Words with 2 syllables or more

more + (the) most

careful - more careful  - (the) most careful 

famous - more famous - (the) most famous

When you want to compare two things you can use:

as ... as

not as ... as

English is as important as Dutch.

Football is not as important as homework.

as ... as in a sentence:

*          You compare two things that are equal to each other.

                         Ben is as smart as Tom.

*          Signal words:

                          just, same 

Comparative in a sentence:

*          You compare two things that are NOT equal.

*          Use THAN               An elephant is bigger than a Koala.
