  • We use Past Simple to talk about events and situations that STARTED and ENDED in the past.



  • WALK ➡️ WALKED
  • You add -ed to the verb
  • Mind the spelling ➡️ 
Past Simple: let's recap!

Slide 3 - Slide

  1. Verbs ending in -e , only add -d : use ➡️ used
  2. Verbs ending in a consonant + y,  -y ➡️ -i: try -> tried
  3. Be careful! Verbs ending in vowel + y: play ➡️ played
  4. Verbs ending in (short) vowel + consonant ➡️ double the consonant           + -ed: stop ➡️ stopped
  5. Extra! Verb ending -l  double the last consonant: travel ➡️ travelled
