Modals: hulpwerkwoorden
Modal verbs zijn hulpwerkwoorden

Ze veranderen niet van vorm.
Het werkwoord dat na het hulpwerkwoord komt staat altijd in de vorm van het hele werkwoord.

We have to jump.

What's the difference between:

1: We must jump.

2: We have to jump.

3: We should jump.
1: verplichting vanuit de spreker
2: verplichting vanuit iemand anders opgelegd.
3: voorstel of advies

Slide 14 - Slide

We gebruiken must, have to en should als er een actie nodig is.
Must en have to worden allebei gebruikt voor hetzelfde doel, alleen het verschil is wie de opdracht geeft.

- must:  de spreker vindt zelf dat iets moet.
- have to:  iemand anders (dus niet de spreker) vindt dat er iets moet (ex: de baas, je ouders, de school)
- should:  bij advies, wanneer dat het beste is om te doen.
