Reading Reader
This period you will be working on your reading skills for 1 lesson a week. Towards the end of this period you will do a reading test. The reading reader will help you to be better prepared for the reading test due to the different types of questions we will discuss and the reading assignments you will do.
We will start with this next lesson.

What to do
Choose one of the prescribed books and answer all the questions that go along with it in the question booklet – you can discuss answers with peers who are reading the same book. Sometimes this is even obligatory (depending on the assignments in the question booklet)
Hand the question booklet in on Magister ELO. All questions need to be answered for the booklet to be deemed sufficient
Next, write a review on the book you read and incorporate 6 literary terms – you will receive a mark for this!

War Horse:

The curious incident of the dog in the night time
A murder mystery novel. The detective, and narrator is Christopher Boone. Christopher is 15 and has Asperger’s Syndrome. He knows a lot about maths and very little about humans. He loves lists, patterns and the truth. He hates the colors yellow and brown and being touched. He has never gone further than the end of the road on his own, but when he finds the neighbor’s dog murdered he sets out on a terrifying journey which will turn his whole world upside down.

Thirteen reasons why
Follows the story of Hannah Baker, a high school freshman, and the thirteen reasons why she commits suicide. Following her death, Hannah leaves behind a series of 7 double-sided cassette tapes detailing the 13 specific people and events that she blames for her demise. Two weeks after her death these cassette tapes are mailed out with directions to pass the tapes on to the next person on the tape. Hannah's life story is conveyed through these tapes, which are narrated by Hannah herself, and through the point of view of Clay, her classmate and the ninth person to receive the tapes.
