Answers worksheet
When there is not enough of something, we say there is scarcity.  When looking at water availability on Earth there are two different types of water scarcity.

When the quality of water is not good enough, people get
illnesses. This is known as economic  scarcity.
There is enough water in many areas and water can be found, but people do not have the  acces (toegang) to it.

Slide 12 - Slide

They need more resources to use this water. Resources like pumps and pipes are missing.
It is also time consuming and expensive. The second type of water scarcity is known as Physical scarcity.

This is all about the quantity (hoeveelheid) of water.
There just isn’t enough water around. In these areas the climate is very dry.
A desert area is a good example of an area where people suffer from physical water scarcity.
