The So as you can see in this slide, most verbs just get -ed behind it. 
Walk becomes walked
Play becomes played 
When we take a closer look at carry and study, we can see that they’ve got a consonant (medeklinker) before the -y, when this is de case the -y changes in -ies. 
Another thing we have to be aware of is that some verbs get a double consonant, like plan and stop.

  • De past continuous gebruik je om te zeggen dat iets in het verleden aan de gang was.
  • De past continuous is de verleden tijd +ing
  • Je maakt de past continuous met:
    was/were voor het werkwoord +ing achter het werkwoord

    Bijvoorbeeld: I was eating when the phone rang.
    Bijvoorbeeld: They were sleeping.
