Present Simple
When you want to talk about your habits, hobbies or facts you use the Present Simple.
• You do this by just writing down the whole verb:
    I love to play with my dog.
• When you are talking about a he, she or it, you add an ‘s’ behind the verb.
   My sister loves to play with my dog.
• For questions or negatives you use do/does:
I don't like to play with dogs.
Does she love to play with her dog?

Present Simple Passive
Passive is when the person who did it is not named. Reason to use this: it is not clear who did it or the person wants to be anonymous. 
How do you do it? am/are/is + Past Participle (voltooid deelwoord):

Ben walks the dog every day.                                             = active
The dog is walked (by Ben) every day.                           = passive
Many scientist study the environment.                         = active
The environment is studied (by many scientists.     = passive

Present Continous
When something is happening NOW at this very moment you use the Present Continuous.
am/are/is verb+ing:
• My sister is talking on the phone at the moment.
• I can't come over. I am studying..
• What are you doing?
• No mom, I am not watching TV now! I am doing my homework!

Past Simple
Past Simple = The past tense that is finished.
I worked as a teacher last year.
I was at a great party yesterday.
I lived in Berlin a couple of years ago.
You do this by adding – ed at the end of the verb:
work -> worked live -> lived play -> played !!! cry -> cried !!!
Questions and negatives are made by using DID
I didn't work as a teacher last year.
Did you live in Berlin a couple of years ago?

Past Continuous
Something was happening (=past continuous) and something else interrupted that (=past simple).
• Mike had (p.s.) an accident when he was driving (p.c.).
• Rick was sleeping (p.c.) when the teacher shouted (p.s.) at him.

Past Continuous: was/were + ww-ing
Past Simple: ww-ed (onregelmatig 2e woord)

Present Perfect
Present Perfect = Something started in the past but it still continues, or you talk about the result.
       It has rained. The streets are still wet. (you talk about the result)
      He has played with this band since 1990. (since -> so it still continues)
        They have always worked there. (always-> so it still continues)
You do this by putting have/has in front of the verb and add –ed at the end of the verb. Signal words: for, since, just, yet, ever, never, how long, already, always.
