  • You know what a question tag is used for;
  •  You know how to create a question tag;
  • You can relate its use in Dutch to its use in English.

THE MINI QUESTION
A tag question is a special construction in English. It is a statement followed by a mini-question. We use tag questions to ask for confirmation. They mean something like: "Is that right?" or "Do you agree?" They are very common in English.

How to use a tag question?
  • A tag question consists of a verb and a pronoun.
  • Sometimes you also use the word 'not' in the tag question. He isn't smart, is he? (tag = verb + pronoun)
  • names change to pronouns

  • Dus heb je geen hulpje in de eerste zin, dan moet je het hww do/does gebruiken

  1. Turn the sentence into a question first.
  2. use predicate (pv) and subject (ow)
  3. turn subject into pronoun
  4. use not if necessary
