Grammar: indirect speech
= indirecte rede

Wanneer je wilt vertellen wat iemand anders iets heeft gezegd

Marie zei dat ze een goed boek aan het lezen was
Mary said (that) she was reading a good book

Slide 3 - Slide

Wat moet je kunnen?
Van direct speech zinnen een indirect speech zin maken:

Jim's mother: 'Jim isn't home'

Jim's mother said (that) Jim wasn't home

Slide 4 - Slide

Hoe maak je deze zinnen?
Je gaat als het ware een stapje terug in de tijd:

  • Present simple --> past simple (= verb+ed)
  • Present continuous (to be + verb + ing) --> past continuous (was/were + verb + ing)
  • Past simple --> past perfect (had + past participle)

--> 'that' mag je in de zin zetten of eruit laten
