- Describe the research activity you undertook, e.g. watching similar films
- Describe one aspect that you found out about the categories for your film, i.e. purpose, tone, genre, etc.
-Explain what impact this will have on your creation of the film and why.

Slide 11 - Open question

In conclusion...
Identify common conventions across your chosen genre that you can include in your opening scene.
Consider why you want to include that convention
Consider how you could realistically shoot that convention

For additional credit, consider the effect of across subgenre conventions - THEY ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT!

Slide 12 - Slide

Writing about conventions
You have to do three things for each convention.
(COPY THESE DOWN!)
1) State the convention
2) State where you found this convention (this can be done in the same sentence)
3) State how you are going to show this convention on screen (this is the tricky bit!)

Slide 13 - Slide

Example of Part 1 and 2
During my research, I identified that one key convention of the Fantasy genre is a close up of the main hero character in an action pose with a weapon. This was present in the trailers for Damsel and Snow White and the Huntsman

NOW WRITE YOUR OWN

Slide 14 - Slide

These are the opening shots of each trailer. What shot is being used?
Considering the genre, why do you think it is important?
