Present Perfect Continuous

Form:

Have/has + been+ verb +ing

I have been working hard.

She has been lazing about all afternoon. 

Present perfect 

Have/has + ww-ed (or irregular verb!)

I have waited for this

Eenmalig/geen nadruk op tijdsduur

Present perfect continuous 

Have/has been + ww-ing

I have been waiting for hours

Gebeurt vaker/wel nadruk op tijdsduur 

Forming questions & negatives

Present perfect 

'I have lived in Wolvega for 3 years, I still love the place!'

1. Iets dat in het verleden is begonnen en nog steeds voortduurt/waar is
2. De nadruk ligt op het resultaat van iets dat in het verleden is gebeurd
3. Iets dat echt net is gebeurd 

Present perfect continuous

'I have been waiting here for hours!'

1. Als je iets (te) lang vindt duren, dus irritatie tonen
   
2. Als je aan wil geven dat iets het gevolg is van iets in het verleden dat toen een lange tijd duurde
3. Signaalwoorden: lately, for hours, all day, for ages, for a long time
