• I know the differences between the Present Simple and the Present Continuous.
• I know when to use the present simple or the present continuous in a sentence.

Present Simple

When to use:

• Facts
• Habits
• Things that happen regularly

Indication words for when to use the Present Simple:

Always, never, every (time), nowadays, seldom, sometimes, usually, regularly.

Rule of form:

verb-(s)

I teach

She sleeps

Present Simple

I go to school every day.

She goes to school every day.

I work on my school assignments quite often.

He works on his school assignments quite often

Present Continuous

When to use:

• Things that are happening right now
• Irritation

Indication words for when to use the Present Simple:

Now, right now, at the moment, listen!, Look!

Always, again, still

Rule of form:

form of to be + verb-ing

I am teaching

Present Continuous

I am doing my grammar homework right now.

You are doing your homework right now.

She is doing her grammar homework right now.

He is always shouting!

I can't believe she is still doing that.

I .......... to the library now (to go)

1. go
2. are going

She ....... her homework quite often (to do)

1. is doing
2. does

They are always ....... till super late in the afternoon (to sleep)

1. sleeping
2. sleep
