Future

What does it mean?

Two forms of the future:

Will

To be going to

Will + hele ww

- iets aanbieden, beloftes, aankondigingen en besluiten.
- een voorspelling zonder bewijs.

Gebruik will + hele werkwoord
Ontkenning: will + not = won't
Vraag: will vooraan.

Will

I've studied so hard for this test. I will get a ten. I'm sure! (voorspelling zonder bewijs)

Better bring an umbrella. It'll probably rain tonight.

 (voorspelling zonder bewijs)

I'll help you with those boxes.    (aanbod)

Sure, we will not tell him that you are a few minutes later. (instemming)

He won't give it back tomorrow! (belofte)

To be going to + hele ww

- iemand is iets wel/niet van plan in de toekomst.

He's going to live in Amsterdam, after he turns 18.
- voorspelling doen met bewijs.

Look at those dark clouds. It's going to rain.
am/are/is + going to + hele ww
ontkenning: am/are/is + not
vraag: vorm van 'to be' vooraan zetten (am/are/is).

To be going to

There's 5 minutes left. I am going to finish the chore. (voorspelling met bewijs)

I am going to buy new socks tomorrow. (iets van plan zijn)

She is going to talk to her ex during the break. (iets van plan zijn)

We are going to send an email to our cousin in Canada. (iets van plan zijn)
