Past continuous

- als iets in het verleden een tijd duurde / aan de gang was. Vaak staat de past continuous dan in één zin samen 

met de past simple;

- als iets in het verleden regelmatig gebeurde en dit je irriteert. Vaak staat er dan een signaalwoord in de zin, 

bijvoorbeeld: always, constantly, forever, all the time, continually enzovoorts   

Example: I was having a fight with my parents and after that we made up again.

Past Continuous
TIJD VOOR TIJD

Een past continuous gebruik je bijna altijd in combinatie met andere tijden. De past continuous is dan altijd hetgene wat eerst aan de gang, waarna het wordt onderbroken door een andere actie.
 I was defeating my friend Jimmy  when his parents
 arrived.
Zoals in bovenstaande zin: I was defeating my friend Jimmy (het langst geleden = past continuous), when his parents arrived (minder lang geleden = past simple).
