Present continuous 

Gebruik:

• iemand is nu iets aan het doen/iets is nu aan de gang
• Iets gebeurt in de nabije toekomst

I am explaining the present continuous.  

You are making notes.  

She is listening to the teacher.  

Present continuous 

Vorm:

1. vorm van 'to be': am / are / is

2. werkwoord

3. + -ing

I am doing the dishes right now.

My parents are watching TV.

Verkorte vorm: I'm doing / She's listening / We're watching

Present Continuous

Always use a form of 'to be' and verb + ing

I am walking

You are listening

He/she/it is talking

We are gaming

You are playing

They are reading

Present continuous 

Spellingsregels:

• Eindigt het werkwoord op een -e, dan valt de -e weg

(to have)     I am having lunch.

(to give)   He is giving us homework.

• Werkwoord van 1 lettergreep met een korte klinker (a, e, i, o, u), verdubbel dan de medeklinker

(to put)     We are putting sugar in his tea.

(to run)   She is running a marathon.
