Email Etiquette
We Know:
-Communication is an ATL skill.
-Using polite and formal language is important when sending an email to a teacher.
-We know of possible situations where we would need to email our teachers.
-We know what should and should not be used in a formal email.
Slide 15 - Slide
Discourse:
Written or spoken communication.
We are informal at home, and formal at school. Always use formal discourse when emailing a teacher.
Tone:
Your attitude toward a subject.
Electronic communication makes it difficult to understand someone’s tone.
Slide 16 - Slide
Attachments:
Remember to check with your teacher if they accept attachments.
Always send an attachment in a universal format so that it can be opened easily
(.doc .docx .pdf JPEG. PNG.)
Digital Footprint:
Once you press send, your email is published forever.
This is why it is important to be mindful of what you say in an email or online.
