Er zijn twee soorten relative clauses:

• defining relative clause 
• non-defining relative clauses (nieuw) 

Relative clauses

Defining relative clauses:  Je hebt ze nodig in een zin om het kloppend te maken. De zin is essentieel. 

''The house which windows are open is beautiful'' 

Non defining relative clauses: Geeft extra informatie maar is niet essentieel. Kan tussen komma's. 

''My brother, who lives in London, is a doctor''
