Unfortunately....
The South African government hasn't been very kind to its citizens. The South African government made a lot of rules in which South Africans of colour and European South Africans couldn't go to the same schools or make use of the same public facilities (such as swimming pools). This is called: 'Apartheid', which is, as its name suggests an active way of keeping different peoples (volkeren) from interacting with each other.
