Introduction

In this activity, students will become 'journalists' by interviewing a classmate. They will then write up their interview and share it with the class.

Instructions

Share success criteria:
Relevance and target audience: The article should be relevant to the intended audience and serve a clear purpose. It should contain information that appeals to the interests and needs of readers and informs, entertains or convinces them.
Reliability of sources: A quality article is based on reliable and verifiable sources. It should refer to scientific studies, experts, authoritative publications or other reliable sources to support the information presented.
Structure and clarity: The article should have a clear structure with an introduction, body part and conclusion. It should present the information in a logical and coherent way, where the content is easy to understand for the target audience.
Objectivity and Accuracy: A good article is objective and accurate in its presentation of facts and information. It avoids bias, speculation and misleading claims. It is important not to make unsubstantiated claims and to substantiate any assumptions with evidence.
Correct use of language and acknowledgment of the source: An article must be written in correct use of language, with attention to spelling, grammar and punctuation. In addition, it is essential to use proper attribution when information or quotes from other sources are used.

Aardappeloproer
1917

To help the conversation to flow,  the students can use the spinner. To do this, share the lesson or screen with the students.

Have students take notes from the interview. Ultimately, the information from the interview can be used to create a short report or article.

Share your newspaper article here.

Slide 3 - Open question

You can decide how you would like students to present this.
