 We gebruiken must + infinitief zonder to om aan te geven dat iets noodzakelijk is of belangrijk is om te doen.

          

 I've got an English test tomorrow. I must revise for it                                                    this evening.

Wanneer gebruiken we mustn't?

               We gebruiken mustn't + infinitief zonder to om aan te geven dat iets                    verboden is en dat het heel belangrijk is dat je het niet doet.

                     We mustn't be late for school.

                      You mustn't use a mobile phone in the cinema. 

      must of mustn't gebruik je ook bij regels en wetten.

In the UK, you must be 17 to drive a car.

You mustn't smoke on aeroplanes.

Needn't en Don't have to

          We gebruiken needn't of don't have to om aan te geven dat iets niet noodzakelijk is, maar ook niet tegen de regels.

              

               - You don't have to bring a towel. There are towels at the               swimming pool. (But you can bring one if you want.)

Verschil tussen Must & have to

Must drukt het gevoel en de wensen van de spreker uit.

I'm really tired. I must go home.

has to/ have to drukt vaak een verplichting uit die door anderen is opgelegd.

You have to show your passport when leaving the country.

We have to finish the homework by Wednesday. Our teacher said so.

Verschil tussen don't have to en mustn't

Don't have to betekent dat iets niet noodzakelijk is. 

We don't have to wear a school uniform.

Mustn't betekent dat iets verboden is.

We mustn't wear jeans to school.
