Adverbs (bijwoorden)
Examples: 
She rarely eats breakfast. 
He's usually home by this time.
Use: 
To answer: How….? 
To say something about a verb or adjective. 
Position in sentence:​ 
Most before the verb, but after to be, to do, to have
At the beginning, followed by a comma: Finally, we...
Other positions: early, soon, still, yet, quite, completely, etc.​

Example: 
The tall professor
The music sounds beautiful.
 
Use: To answer: What sort of….? (it’s rather a description) 
To say something about a noun (zelfstandig naamw). 

Position in sentence:​ 
Before a noun 
Used after these verbs: to be – sound – taste – smell – look – feel 
35-year-old man / 90-minute walk

Irregular issues 
  1. good vs well
  2. No change: fast, hard, high, late, low, daily, early, strange
  3. hard vs hardly --> different meanings
  4. sensory perception: taste, look, feel, smell, sound --> adjective
Adverb spelling
+ ly
Same spelling: fast, hard, late, low, high
- e > -y (terrible > terribly) -ic > - ically (fantastic > fantastically)
