Past Simple

Use: when something has happened and it stopped. We know when it happened.
Rule: +   Regular: verb+ed                       Irregular: own form 
            -    didn't + verb                                  
            ?    Did ... + verb                                 
Keywords: yesterday, the day before yesterday, when, in 2011, 5 years ago, (earlier) this morning, last week/month/year.

Use: when something has happened, but: 1. time is unknown, or 2. time is unimportant
Rule: A form of verb to have (have/has) + past participle
+   Regular: verb+ed                       Irregular: own form 
            -    haven't/hasn't + verb
