The Ulster American Folk Park is a museum of folk life and migration. During your visit, you can learn all about how people lived and worked in the past, or discover how and why they left Ireland for a new life in America. You can explore the site with your teacher, or take part in one of our special workshops for schools!

Your class will be welcomed by our team. We'll show you where to leave your bags, have a snack, and tell you more about what you can see and do at the museum. Listen carefully to the team - they will help you get the most our of your visit! We'll give your teacher a map to help you find your way around...

What will I see at the museum?
Many of our buildings are original, and some are over 200 years old! Inside you will see real historical objects that the people who lived and worked in these building would have used for everyday tasks. You will even get a chance to go onboard our replica ship! There are real fires in many of the fireplaces in our buildings, so please be careful to stay at a safe distance.

As part of your visit, you will be given a group welcome by our team, who will show you to your break room and introduce you to the site.
Listen carefully to the staff- they will help you get the most out of your visit!
Who will I meet?
As you explore the museum, you will meet the people who work here. Our visitor guides are dressed in period costume, and can tell you all about life in the past. They'll be happy to answer your questions! You might also meet other visitors and school groups. Please be respectful of all other visitors, and make sure to stay with your own group.

Be prepared for exploring outdoors!
The Ulster American Folk Park is an outdoor museum - so be prepared by bringing your coat and wearing comfortable shoes or trainers. The roads and paths can be slippy in wet weather, so it's best to take your time when walking around the site.

Be kind to animals at the museum!
Our museum is home to wild animals and farmyard fowl. Keep your eyes out for rabbits, robins, squirrels and more!
You might also meet our chickens, ducks, geese and turkeys who are looked after by our expert farm assistant. Make sure you always stay at the safe distrance from the animals, and don't pet or feed them.

Remember to stay with your group...
The Ulster American Folk Park is very big, so it is really important to stay together in your designated group. This might be your whole class if you're doing a workshop, or smaller groups if you are going around with your teachers and leaders. This helps makes sure that everyone can get around the site safely.
