We are going to look at:
 Part 2 & 3 of Reading and UoE

FCE reading exam
The exam normally has 7 parts and takes 75 minutes 

Based on your experiences so far, the test week test will have 5 parts and take 50 minutes.

The test will also take place in 2 sections. For section 1 you can't use your dictionary and for section 2 you can.

Section 1 (no dictionary):
Part 1: MC gap questions
Part 2: Open gap questions
Part 3: word formation

Section 2 (with dictionary):
Part 6: MC gap sentences
Part 7: MC matching questions

Phrasal verbs
Verbs that are often combined with a specific extra word into a phrase:

Decide the whether you need a verb, noun, adjective, or adverb
for each gap.

Most common word types for part 3
Verbs: action

Nouns: Names, concepts, thing and names of jobs/jobtypes

Adjectives: describe nouns (often after the verb 'to be')

Adverbs: describe verbs, adjectives and other adverbs

  1. Read the questions first this will help you understand what you are looking for when you read.
  2. Mark the unique bits of information in each question. That will help you distinguish between questions.
  3. REMEMBER YOU DON'T NEED TO UNDERSTAND ALL THE WORDS IN THE TEXT.
