Als er een komma in de zin staat, mag je nooit 'that' gebruiken. 
Tip: Hoe spot je de bijzin? -> de bijzin kun je ook weglaten!

Bijv. als het wordt gevolgd door het onderwerp in de zin:

Je kunt een relative pronoun alleen weghalen als er geen komma in de zin is en als er na het voornaamwoord een persoon volgt, die NIET het onderwerp van de zin is. Wat is het onderwerp in de onderste twee zinnen?

Je gebruikt whose i.p.v. who wanneer je bezit aan wilt geven:
  • Whose car is this?

  • Whose gloves are these?
We gebruiken whose om erachter te komen van wie iets is of bij wie iets hoort.

Je gebruikt whom in plaats van who, direct na een voorzetsel, zoals with, for of to:
  • With whom did you go to school?
  • Over 200 people attended the ceremony, many of whom had known Harry as their teacher.
