What are we going to do today?

- Learn about how to talk about events in the future. 

- Make sentences in the Future tense.

- Read a chapter of Dorian Gray.

What tenses can we use to talk about the future?

4 ways to use the Future tense

Present Simple	Vaste, regelmatig tijd ( rooster )	The bus leaves at 6.
Present Continuous	Iets gaat zeker gebeuren	I 'm leaving for Paris tomorrow. She is coming later today.
To be going to	Plan gemaak t, afspraak nog niet	We a re going to visit our friends during the holidays!
Future Simple -will/shall	Nog geen plan / je doet een voorstel	She wi ll run a Marathon some day... Shall I bring you a drink?

Future 'To be going to'

• Future plans or intentions 
  
  
• Example: Jack is going to study in Berlin when he's older.

• AM/IS/ARE + GOING TO + VERB (INFINITIVE)
• AM NOT/ISN'T/AREN'T + GOING TO + VERB (INFINITIVE)

FUTURE 'WILL'

• To make promises (beloftes)
• To make predictions (voorspellingen) about the future
  
  Example:  Don't worry...they will be fit in time for the match!
                        Ajax will win the match. I am sure!

• WILL or 'LL +  infinitive        WILL NOT/WON'T + infinitive

• For future events that are scheduled or arranged, rosters
  
  Examples: The supermarket closes at 10:00 pm.
                         Our school trip is next month
                         My tram arrives at 11.00.
  
  Infinitive (wihtout TO) - for HE/SHE/IT + S (don't /doesn't)
